Atlético Paranaense made it three win from four in the Copa Libertadores with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Universitario in Curitiba on Thurday night.

It leaves the Brazilian’s top of Group 1 on goal difference just ahead of Argentines Vélez Sarsfield.

The top two face each other in the next round of matches in Brazil and Atlético will hope to earn a victory which would secure their passage into the knock-out rounds.

The host went ahead after ten minutes thanks to an own goal, ironically, from Universitario’s Brazilian defender Dalton.

That put the Hurricane’s in the ascendancy and two second half strikes ensured they sealed a comfortable but crucial win.

23-year-old Felipe grabbed the vital second with Éderson setting up that goal before the talented forward got himself on the scoresheet late on to seal the win.

As mentioned it was a crucial victory for Atlético and they’ll now prepare themselves for next week’s huge tie against Vélez Sarsfield.
