Cruzeiro defender Dede has issued a plea to Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to select him for the upcoming World Cup, despite the competition for centre back berths being fierce.

With Thiago Silva and David Luiz set to occupy primary squad roles in Scolari’s list, Dede appears to be vying with the likes of Doria and Dante for one of the back-up positions.

He told Lancenet: “It is a dream to play in the World Cup, I am very well, very confident. I am focused and aware of the things I need to do to help the cause.”

“I’m ready for this World Cup, If all goes well, I’ll be available, like when I peaked at Vasco.”

Dede has thus far made 9 appearances for Brazil, scoring one goal, and won the Campeonato Brasileiro last season with Cruzeiro.
