Brazil striker Hulk scored a memorable goal for Zenit in their Champions League second round loss to Borussia Dortmund, but it was not enough for the Russian side to progress to the quarter finals of Europe’s most important club tournament.

Having to overcome a 4-2 deficit from the first leg, Zenit started with a bang, Hulk scoring a long range rasper that moved and deviated all the way into the top corner of Roman Weiderfeller’s goal. It was the sort of strike that the ex-Porto man is renowned for and put his side back in the tie.

However, an equaliser for the German side restored a commanding lead and despite Salomon Rondon’s winner, it is Dortmund who join Manchester United as the last two qualifiers for this term’s last eight.

Hulk is yet to win a medal at Zenit but during his time at Porto, he claimed the Europa League and four Primeira Liga titles; he also won Olympic silver at London in 2012 and has been linked with a move to Chelsea ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
