Júlio Baptista is hoping to start playing matches regularly for Cruzeiro after enduring a mixed time with the club since joining in July.

In the Brasileirão Baptista scored five goals but only played 13 matches and nine of those were substitute appearances.

Lancenet.com spoke with the former Arsenal midfielder and highlighted that he has only played two consecutive matches once since joining the Brazil club.

Baptista revealed he is comfortable though and knows opportunities will come, he added: “I really did not have the continuity that I could have. These things happen.

“Every player goes through it, but more important is to keep the peace. Like any player, I want to play, to contribute.

“I hope to play good games and if I have the opportunity to continue, for sure, it will happen naturally.”

Cruzeiro are likely to play some reserves against Tombense on Sunday and with Baptista returning from injury it is likely he’ll play some part.

He concluded: “Regardless of the opposition, we have to know our qualities, all of which have played and worked together. I’m sure we’ll do a great game and get the victory.”
