Despite beating Universitário (Peru) 1-0 thanks to an own goal, coach Miguel Portugal expressed disappointment that his team were not able to convert the chances that would have seen his side move to the top of Group 1.

Atlético-PR dominated possession of the ball and should have returned to Curitiba with a much bigger victory margin than the one they did. Nevertheless, coach Miguel Portugal was satisfied with the victory.

“We could have scored more goals, but we’re satisfied with the victory. We needed this win,” said the Spaniard after the match.

“The victory was very important. Obviously, however, we could have scored more goals, knowing the great importance that this can have. But we shouldn’t regret what happened. We came here to win and we did that.”

The Furação are now on six points in Group 1 of the Copa da Libertadores. The have a goal-difference of zero and thus sit third behind leaders The Strongest (Bolivia) and second-placed Vélez (Argentina) who have equal points but have goal-differences of two and one respectively.

Atletico will have another chance to put the ball in the back of the net when they face Universitário at home next Thursday.
