Of the 345,00 extra tickets allocated by FIFA for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, the hosts have unsurprisingly snapped up the lion’s share. Nearly 285,000 of said tickets are gone already and they include access to all games apart from the opener in Sao Paulo, the two semi-finals in Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte and the final in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazilian fans have accounted for over 207,000 of the new ticket allocation, followed by purchases from the USA (21,000) and Colombia (6,000). The sale, which will go on until April 1, has also seen significant buying from Argentina, England, Mexico, Chlie, France and Canada.

The World Cup kicks off on June 12 with Brazil against Croatia and, according to FIFA, tickets sales are at least on a par of where they have expected them to be.
