The latest sensation to come out of the Santos youth ranks is 17-year-old Gabriel, aptly nicknamed Gabigol because of his goalscoring prowess, and the young attacker has revealed 2014 has gone as a dream so far.

Gabriel spoke to Lancenet.com about his start to the season, which has seen him score five times and leave a lasting impression among opposition fans as well as the Peixe faithful.

Although the youngster has been excellent thus far this season, he has said sorry to his supporters after failing to find the net against Oeste.

An admirable admission from the novice, Gabriel went on to say: “A striker always wants to score and when we don’t we feel very sad.

“I try to mark my play with the side and it is important to me to score. I left the field apologizing because from my point of view I can give more. Santos are winning though and that’s what matters.”

Gabriel believes the extra work he put in during the winter break has enabled him to hit the ground running this season.

He added: “I got the title and I’ve also helped the team with goals. I’ve always loved coaching and dedicating myself a lot.

“Things have been going as I always dreamed. I thank God for the opportunity. I think being extra prepared at the beginning of the season helped me a lot.”

The highly rated attacker has scored five times already this season and it seems certain that this will be one name to remember for the future.
