The Brazilian has hailed the club’s fans following their progression to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.
Tuesday’s comfortable 4-1 win ensured that Atletico advanced into the final eight with a 5-1 aggregate score.
After the game, Luis was quick to praise the part that the fans had to play during the victory and described the players and the fans ‘amazing’.
“It was difficult to get here but we’re excited to go further,” he told UEFA’s official website.
“The bond with the fans is amazing. We must get as far as possible.”
Atletico’s last appearance in the final eight of the European Cup came in 1997 but with the likes of Diego Costa in their ranks they will be hoping to do even better than that this time around.
