Alexandre Pato will finally make his São Paulo debut in the early hours of Thursday morning UK time and the 24-year-old admits he is anxious to impress.

The former AC Milan forward was speaking at a press conference ahead of the game and also discussed his controversial tweet from the weekend.

On his debut against CSA in the first round of the Brazil Cup, Goal.com quoted the striker who admitted: “For all the firsts I was very anxious, as I am now.

“The secret is what you do in training, the dedication, the environment which I can start with the right foot here and that I can have a lot of wins. In training game workouts I always dedicated myself to the max.”

The 24-year-old caused controversy at the weekend as well when following São Paulo’s 3-2 victory over rivals Corinthians, Pato revealed his delight and tweeted: “Great victory.”

Pato is on loan from Corinthians but he believes he did nothing wrong with his tweet because he is contracted to be with Tricolor for the imminent future.

“I think for a few months I’ll be a fan until I start to play,” said the Brazilian forward.

“I am on loan here until 2016. I defend the colours of São Paulo and will not change. I was very happy for the achievement of my companions. I did not say anything wrong.”

Pato will hope to let his feet do the talking after his eagerly anticipated São Paulo debut this week.
