Pelé was in Paris on Sunday as part the World Cup Trophy Tour and took the time to talk about the capital club’s young Brazilian talent.

“Since he played at São Paulo we Brazilians have been monitoring Lucas very closely. He has a great future ahead of him,” said the 73-year-old.

He played in the same team under-20 team as Neymar, another great player. This generation, with Oscar too, is very promising. Lucas can become a great player.”

The 21-year-old signed for the French champions for £35m in January 2013 but it’s fair to say that Lucas Moura has not yet fully lived up to his potential at the Parc des Princes, but displays like his impressive performance against Olympique Marseille in Le Classique last week give hope that he could well come close to matching expectations.

Watch the video above as Lucas Moura surges from his own half into the Olympique Marseille penalty area with pace, poise and skill, only for a brilliant goal-line clearance from Rod Fanni to prevent him from claiming an absolute wonder goal.
