The Brazilian full-back is undoubtedly back in form having recovered from a series of injuries that plagued him last year.

The 25-year-old put in yet another distinguished performance for Brazil in their 5-0 victory against South Africa on Wednesday.

The only think now evading the defender is a goal.

Despite possessing great ability going forward, Marcelo hasn’t found the back of the net since 2012 and has now played 33 games for club and country without scoring a goal.

Marcelo is a player who has scored at least three goals per season since the 2008-2009 campaign – apart from his injury-plagued season last time around – but the last time he hit the mark was against Manchester City on 18th September 2012.
