Lucas Lima has spoken about the racist abuse suffered by his team-mate and talks about how the incident has angered the entire squad.

The incident occurred in Santos’ 5-2 victory at Mogi Mirim and Lucas Lima, who scored his first goal for the club during the game, spoke out against what happened.

“It’s embarrassing. We say that we don’t have racism in this country but I think that it’s one of the countries that does,” said the 23-year-old.

“More than anything, it’s because of a lack of education.”

The attacking midfielder confirmed that the Santos squad have all got behind their team-mate.

“We’re all with him. Nobody wants this sort of thing to happen. But he’s an experienced guy and he has his head screwed on. He doesn’t seem to have been too affected by it but it’s really annoying, not just for him, but for the group as a whole.”
