The Brazil coach has admitted that he was impressed with the midfielder’s display in the 5-0 victory over South Africa on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old scored his side’s fourth goal with a thunderous strike and won plaudits for his performance on an impressive night for the World Cup hosts.
“Fernandinho scored a beautiful goal but that was not the only thing I liked – also his effort, his good passes,” Scolari told Lancenet.
“Fernandinho played well in all roles. He has now been added to the list of options for the World Cup with a good chance (of being called up).”
The Manchester City man improved in the second half after the introduction of the more defensive Luiz Gustavo allowed him to roam into a slightly more offensive role.
