New Spanish internstional Diego Costa has declared himself happy after making his debut for Vicente del Bosque’s side but insisted that he can offer more to the team as he settles into his new surroundings.

Spain beat Italy 1-0 in a repeat of the Euro 2012 final courtesy of a goal from Barcelona’s Pedro last night.

“I am very happy to have made my debut with the team and to have won the game. I’ll keep doing my job at Atletico to have chances to be in the team. I know the first game isn’t easy. I’m happy, but I know I can give much more.”

Del Bosque echoed Costa’s thoughts: “We are pleased with Diego. He has integrated intot the team very well, we are happy with his debut.”

Spain’s further World Cup warm-up matches are against Bolivia and El Salvador before they compete in a mouth-watering opening Group B fixture with beaten 2010 finalists Netherlands.
