Júlio César echoed the sentiments of Brazil captain Thiago Silva after the 5-0 demolition of South Africa on Wednesday evening and stated that his country are ready for the World Cup.

The Queens Park Rangers keeper, recently loaned to Toronto FC, spoke with lancenet.com after the friendly win and praised the level of performance that Seleção showed.

César said: “Many people can speak and say Brazil thrashed because they faced a weak opponent but I believe that it was our performance, we imposed ourselves on the game.

“We are at an optimum level.”

The national team number one also went on to praise two players performing for Brazil for the first time in a while.

Rafinha and Fernandinho both played, with the latter scoring a fantastic fourth Brazil goal. It was the Manchester City midfielders first for his country.

César added: “Rafinha and Fernandinho were fine. Mainly Fernandinho, who scored a great goal.

“This friendly was worth a lot for them.”
