Dani Alves has been full of praise for Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari ahead of his side’s friendly fixture against South Africa on Wednesday.

The Barcelona full back spoke with the media about the effect Felipão has had on the team since taking over from Mano Menezes.

Globo quoted the 30-year-old who thanks Scolari for helping restore worldwide respect for the World Cup hosts.

Alves said: “We was missing a constancy in conversations, clear ideas of what we wanted.

“I think that with the experience Scolari, he has managed to give us that in this short period of time.

“That helped us to have worldwide respect today. People today look at Brazil with respect. That did not exist before.”

The influence of Scolari on Seleção has been significant, in the space of a year Brazil went from a team struggling under Menezes to Confederation Cup winners.

Alves continued singing the praises of Felipão, adding: “The great merit of Scolari is that he is a spontaneous guy who knows what he wants. The group has absorbed his ideas well.

The Barça full back concluded: “Although we are young. The experience of Scolari fits in well with this group. I speak not only in football terms but also as a human being.”
