Atlético Mineiro have fined key duo Ronaldinho and Diego Tardelli after the pair turned up late for training following the Carnival in Salvador last weekend.

Goal.com reported the news that the two Brazilians were allowed by their club to go to the Carnival but took advantage too much and on Monday turned up late to work.

Tardelli was an hour late for training whilst Ronaldinho was also punished for his time keeping.

The pair, according to various reports, enjoyed themselves at the Carnival with Ronaldinho going on stage to rap, this comes following comments that he would like to launch a career in music following retirement.

However, the partying has proved to be costly and for Ronaldinho in particular it will have a detrimental effect on his hopes of making Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad.

It seemed unlikely anyway that the 2002 World Cup winner could force his way back into Felipão’s squad but this lack of professionalism will only count against the former Barcelona star.

Ronaldinho and Tardelli will hope to let their football do the talking on Wednesday night as Atlético host Caldense in the Campeonato Mineiro.
