Manchester United target Everton Ribeiro has rejected talk linking him with a move away from Cruzeiro.

The 24-year-old was subject to intense speculation surrounding Premier League giants Man United during the winter transfer window.

Now he is being linked with a move to Serie A side Napoli by the Italian press, despite this however he has moved to play down speculation.

Ribeiro was quoted by UOL, with Sky Sports reporting his comments, he said: “The time for speculation is over.

“I am now focusing on my games and improving so everything works out.”

Ribeiro has continued his excellent form from 2013 into the new year. It seems likely however that once the Copa Libertadores ends in the summer that he will be linked with a move away from Brazil again.

The former Corinthians youngster is yet to represent his country in a competitive match although he as played for the Brazil under-20 team.

He may feel that a move to Europe would strength his chances of making Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad in the future but certainly for the time being he is better off in his home country.
