Manchester United target Everton Ribeiro rejects disrespect aimed at Campeonato Mineiro
Cruzeiro star man Everton Ribeiro has rejected claims that the State Championship doesn’t mean as much for Raposa compared to the Copa Libertadores and Brasileirão.
The two aforementioned competitions are vastly more prestigious than the various State Championships currently being played across Brazil but the Manchester United target believes Cruzeiro are taking that tournament extremely seriously.
Lancenet.com quoted the attacking midfielder’s views on the Campeonato Mineiro and other competitions.
Ribeiro said: “We have the same approach, if it’s independent, Libertadores or Campeonato Mineiro.
“We will always seek victories in matches for Cruzeiro.”
Ribeiro started against Minas on Saturday night and scored the fourth in the 4-0 win to ensure they stated top of the division.
The 24-year-old was voted the best player in Brazil last year and he has carried that form into the new season.
Speculation was rife over the winter months that Ribeiro could move to Europe but he has decided to stay in Brazil and will now be targeting more success with Cruzeiro after winning the 2013 Brasileirão.
