Diego Maradona has boldly claimed that Brazil are “unbeatable” when they are focused like they were during the 2013 Confederations Cup.

The Argentine legend of the game believes the host nation are without doubt the favourites for the 2014 World Cup but did admit that Lionel Messi may be able to stop them.

Globo Esporte quoted the 1986 World Cup winner, he said: “Without doubt, my favourite is Brazil.

“This has been demonstrated in the Confederations Cup. When the Brazilian players are properly focused, I think they are unbeatable.”

Although Maradona didn’t rule out his own country and he admitted if he was to bet on another team it would be his nation.

He concluded: “It is necessary to invest in Argentina. Why? Because Messi is at his best.”

The scorer of the famous “Hand of God” goal will be in Brazil during the World Cup but he won’t be managing like he did in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Instead, according to Globo, he has been hired by Venezuelan TV station Telesur to provide commentary on matches.
