Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas was asked to represent the playing staff at today’s ritualistic press conference before their weekend game and once again had to deal with questions surrounding Brazilian teammate Neymar.

As reported on Globo, Fabregas calmly dismissed suggestions of pressure on his 22 year-old colleague, who has had to recently deal with off-the-field matters as well as being the face of the upcoming World Cup in his homeland from June this year.

“On the field, he wants to win for Barca and nothing else,” said Fabregas, “We see it as well. He is a cheery and positive person.”

The Spaniard also moved to defend critics of Neymar’s use of social media: “On this topic, everyone has their opinion. I like to participate when there is happiness to share with fans.”

If things go Neymar’s way this season, his social media accounts will to another level completely. His Barca team are still in with a shout to win an historic treble, whereas his national side are many bookmakers’ favourites for the World Cup.
