Winners of the Confederations Cup last year, the Seleção was one of six nominated in the category of ‘team of the year’.
They will face competition from Bayern Munich, the New Zealand rugby team, the Miami Heat basketball team, American tennis doubles stars Mike and Rob Bryan and the Red Bull Formula 1 team.
Other Brazilian representatives included Atlético-MG’s Ronaldinho, in the category of ‘comeback of the year’, as well as surfer Maya Gabeira and skater Bob Burnquist, in the category of ‘radical sportsman of the year’.
