Grêmio comfortably defeat Atlético Nacional in Copa LibertadoresAlan Ruiz celebrates his goal with his Grêmio team mates
Grêmio continued their excellent start to 2014 by making it two wins out of two in the Copa Libertadores with a crushing 3-0 win over Atlético Nacional in the early hours of Wednesday morning UK time.
Luan opened the scoring in the first half before Ramiro and Argentine Alan Ruiz added some gloss to the final result and ensured the Brazilian side would be top of Group 6 after the latest round of matches.
Ramiro assisted the opening goal with the Colombian team’s defence all at sea allowing Luan to lob Neco Martínez with 29 minutes played.
The provider for the first turned goalscorer for the second as Ramiro slotted home following excellent work on the left by Wendell to essentially ensure the three points in 65th minute.
Then Grêmio saved the best until last as 20-year-old Argentine midfielder Ruiz scored a sublime solo goal.
The San Lorenzo loanee burst past one Atlético Nacional defender and turned another inside out before drilling into the bottom corner from outside the box.
It was a wonderful goal and this result sets the Tricolor up nicely for the next round of Copa Libertadores matches in March.
The Brazilian side host last season’s semi-finalists Newell’s Old Boys in the early hours of March 14th in a mouthwatering clash.
