Brazil-born PSG central midfielder Thiago Motta has extended his stay at the French club after signing a new contract that ties him to the Parisien side until the end of the 2016 season.

Motta, who has captained PSG on occasion, joined them from Inter Milan in 2012 for around €10million and has already lifted Ligue 1 during his stay there.

The 31 year-old was born in Sao Bernardo and has represented Brazil twice- albeit in full internationals that were also classed as under-23 games. Motta then changed allegiance to Italy and has won 18 caps for the Azzuri to date.

A winner of the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006 and again with Inter in 2010, Motta told PSG’s club website: “I am very happy to continue following my dreams with Paris Saint-Germain. I want to help the club reach their ambitious goals, both in France and in Europe.”
