Barcelona interesting in signing Botafogo’s Dória to replace Carlos Puyol
Botafogo’s highly rated young defender Dória is again being linked with a move to Barcelona as a possible replacement for Carlos Puyol.
Lancenet.com reported that the 19-year-old defender was subject to a loan approach from the Catalan club last summer and they believe Barcelona will try to sign him again.
The Brazilian publication insists Sport newspaper first alerted them to the news surrounding Dória.
Spanish newspaper Sport believe that Barcelona are not interested in signing an established player but a talented youngster who they could reap financial rewards on.
Dória is certainly that and is apparently valued at €30 million, although the La Liga side won’t pay that sum they are apparently confident of securing his signature should he be the defender they choose to replace Puyol.
The Barcelona captain is supposedly set to retire at the end of the season and Doria could follow in the footsteps of Neymar in being another Brazilian to sign for the club.
If the Brazilian youth international enjoys a successful Copa Libertadores campaign it will further add to his reputation and Barcelona will almost certainly be under no illusions but to bring him to the Camp Nou.
