Luiz Felipe Scolari’s first-choice goalkeeper recently completed the move to the Canadian outfit where he will remain there until at least the World Cup.

Júlio César wasn’t featuring for his parent-club QPR so decided to make the move to MLS side Toronto FC where he will be able to enjoy first-team action.

According to Brazilian goalkeeping great Taffarel, the move was a wise one.

“It’s going to be really important. I hope that he makes the most of this opportunity because Felipão is counting on him. He’s an important part of the plan, he has great experience and played really well in the last World Cup,” said Taffarel in an interview with Terra.

“I think that he might not have made the World Cup if he continued the way he was. Now he will train and play properly and have the responsibility of playing in games,” said the 1994 World Cup winner.

Taffarel is currently the goalkeeping coach at Turkish side Galatasaray.
