Former Inter Milan defender Lúcio talks about Champions League winLúcio enjoyed great success in Italy
Former Inter Milan defender Lúcio has been talking about his old sides triumph in the 2010 Champions League campaign to Goal.com.
The current Palmeiras defender was speaking in the latest episode of MasterCard’s Priceless Memories.
Winning the pinnacle European club trophy back in 2010 certainly was one of those moments for Lúcio.
He said: "There is no question that it was a special Champions League for me because I was playing with my friends - there was a friendship in the squad that got into the club's history.
"It marked my history as well because winning the Champions League and being in the FIFA XI best players was a very good surprise. It was a dream that came true. The final match was amazing."
Lúcio’s comments about friendship obviously aren’t aimed at Marco Materazzi after the pair had a public spat last week.
However, the Brazilian talked about Inter’s path to the final and how once they were there they knew they had to win.
“We knew Bayern were favourites due to their huge power,” revealed Lúcio. “But we were confident.
"Inter's path was a bit tense. We had a big team and also a big responsibility.
“It was 45 years since the club's last Champions League trophy, so no doubt deep inside something was telling us: 'It has to be now, it has to be now.'"
