The Brazilian Ronaldo has stated that he believes the 2014 World Cup will be the ‘best finals of all time’ in a recent interview with Radio Montecarlo’s ‘Luis Attaque!’ programme.

The former Seleção star was talking with former coach Luis Fernandez and praised his home country ahead of this summer’s spectacle.

AS.com quoted the former Real Madrid and Barcelona forward on Tuesday.

Ronaldo said: “I am totally convinced that this will be the best World Cup finals of all time.

“I am quite optimistic, above all because it’s my country.

“It’s an important event and we are all making a concerted effort so that it turns out well.”

The preparation for the tournament this June and July has been heavily criticised by various people within the games.

Stadiums remain uncompleted, whilst tragedy has effected the work as well.

Despite these factors, the phenomenon used the example of the Winter Olympics in Sochi to show an event can be ‘fantastic’ even with problems beforehand.

“It’s normal to have doubts in the month leading up to the tournament,” said Ronaldo.

“Look what happened with the Winter Olympics in Sochi – in the end, it was a fantastic, well-organized event.”
