Fluminense left shocked by Botafogo in Carioca
Fluminense suffered a major setback to their Carioca championship hopes with an unexpected home loss to Botafogo on Sunday evening, a result which leaves them three points behind leaders Flamengo after ten rounds of the league.
Home advantage, coupled with the fact that the visitors had announced a slightly weakened side, led many observers to beleive that Fluminense would win this encounter at a stroll. However, the Maracana was left shocked by three away goals, including two in the space of a couple of minutes in the second half.
Botafogo went in at the break 1-0 to the good thanks to Henrique's strike and the same man doubled their lead after 65 minutes. Argentine Bolatti sealed the three points two minutes later to leave Flu on 22 points and the joyful visitors seven points behind.
