Julio Cesar, the Brazil goalkeeper, has spoken of his happiness at getting back to doing what he does best at new club Toronto, but lamented a debut loss in which his side conceded three goals in defeat.

Cesar, the front runner to be first choice for his country at this summer’s World Cup on home soil, made his debut for the Canadian club in the reverse against Columbus Crew and told reporters after the game: “I’m a little sad because it was my first game. But I’m glad I got back to playing again.”

“I was eight months without playing football and it was a difficult time for me.”

Julio Cesar moved to Toronto from English Premier League side Q.P.R. recently, in a bid to kick-start his claims to be Luiz Felipe Scolari’s first choice stopper this summer.
