Brazilian-born Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game as Atlético Madrid overcome AC Milan 1-0 away at the San Siro.

It was a crucial victory for the Spanish side and they will now be even firmer favourites to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals than before the tie.

Costa powered home an excellent header in the 83rd minute to continue his incredible season with Diego Simeone’s team.

The Brazilian forward, but Spanish resident, spoke with Sky Sports Italia after the game.

Football Italia published Costa’s comments, he said: “It was a very difficult game against a very tough team, but we always manage to score in the key moment.

“We had to keep our cool when under pressure, as we knew we’d have our chances eventually.

“We know that the tie is not finished yet. We have good result from the first leg, but Milan are a great side and anything can happen.”

It was a fantastic night for Costa but another disappointing cup night for Milan manager Clarence Seedorf.

The former Botafogo midfielder will hope his side can turn it around at the Vincente Calderón Stadium but with Costa in his current form it seems unlikely.
