Its easy to forget that until recently the Brazilian league was played in an entirely different format.

Similar to a 2nd Division European style playoff; the teams at the top of the table would all play off in a knock out compeition with the two remaining teams going to a grand final. Many fans mourned the loss of this ‘cup final’ style game. The excite would be gone with this European style league they shouted!

But this weekend the fans should have nothing to complain about as with only 3 games left the top two sides Corinthians and Internacional will play against each other and with only 3 points seperating the two teams the result could be decisive.

Should Corinthians win then the extra 3 points – against there next nearest rival – will almost guarantee them crowned Brasileiro champions. However a loss, would place Internacional level on points ensuring an even more intense final few games. Either way this weekends clash is unmissable.

Corinthians are playing as the away team but the return of Carlos Tevez is sure to boast them. So this Sunday get prepared for the big one!
