With eyes on the World Cup, Fred guarantees that he is “100%” fitFred is looking forward to getting back to goalscoring ways
The marksman has reassured fans that he is good physical condition and is already dreaming about scoring in his return to action on Wednesday and being called-up once again to the selection on February 24.
Six months and two injuries have passed since Fred last scored. Despite this, the striker insists that he is ready to return and bring smiles to the faces of Fluminense and Brazil fans alike.
“I’m coming back at 100%. Against Macaé, God willing, you’ll see this. I’m 100% ready.”
Of Fluminense’s five strikers, Fred is the only one yet to have scored in the Campeonato Carioca.
“When strikers don’t score it bothers them. However, I already feel in good shape and in rhythm. The only thing missing is goals. As soon as one goes in, many more will follow,” he reassured.
Even though national team coach Luis Felipe Scolari has said that Fred will be the number 9 at this year’s World Cup, the 30-year-old knows the importance of getting goals.
“Felipão is trying to boost my confidence and make sure that I continue working hard on and off the pitch. I have to keep working, developing and aiming for this place in the national side. I want to come back and score goals. I have to continue this battle.”
