Potential stadium issues in the city of Cuiaba have been dismissed by Brazilian Sports minister Aldo Rebelo as pure nonsense, with the diplomat saying that there is no labour being carried out on site- because everything is finished.

“I visited the stadium at Cuiaba last week and work is ongoing but there is no work ongoing in terms of concrete or mtal structures- all that has been completed.”, Rebelo told reporters.

Rebelo went on to suggest that a small fire within the stadium last October “has not compromised any structure fundamental to the functioning” of the stadium, which is due to host four World Cup fixtures later this year.

Curitiba is facing similar uncertainty about its stadium, with FIFA delegates to vote today on its hosting of fixtures in the upcoming tournament.
