Atlético Mineiro captain Réver has been ruled out of action for roughly 2-3 months with an ankle injury.

The Galo skipper will have to undergo surgery on his left ankle and will miss several crucial matches in the Copa Libertadores as well as various State Championship games while he recovers.

Doctor Rodrigo Lasmar spoke to the press today to reveal the bad news about Réver.

Lance quoted Doctor Lasmar, he said: “Réver despite conservative treatment, still has pain in his left ankle.

“The impact is that he will undergo a surgical procedure, arthroscopy. The sooner this procedure is done, the sooner we will have the athlete back.

“The exact return is not known, it is roughly 2-3 months to recover but everything depends on the surgery.”

Réver joins Emerson and Luan on the treatment table however the impressive performance of Nicolás Otamendi at the weekend will go someway to softening the blow.

Otamendi was praised following his debut performance and will hope to make up for Réver absence with some strong defensive displays.
