After coming on as a substitute towards the end of Atlético Paranaense’s Copa Libertadores win, the emotional striker said that he still dreams of making a return to the Seleção.

After a long time out, Adriano’s appearance in the final minutes of Thursday’s game was sufficient to make him dream of playing once again for Brazil. He became emotional as he recalled the support that his friends and family offered him during his tough times.

“If I said it was impossible (to return to the Seleção) I would be lying. I dream of being with the Seleção. As I said, besides the Libertadores, the World Cup is the only trophy I haven’t won. But I have to work hard for Atlético-PR to get a place in the side,” said the 31-year-old.

“I thank those that believed in me. My fans, my family, my children, my friends. Sorry, I’m emotional, but I remember how they stood by me and supported me and supported me despite me spending so long out. This is priceless.”
