Corinthians defender Paulo André has joined Shanghai Greenland Shenhua on a free transfer.

The 30 year-old, who had been with Corinthians since 2009, admits the move came as a surprise, but felt it was the right time go.

“The proposal came on Monday. Everything happened so quickly,” he said, as reported by China.org.

“There were other proposals in previous years but this time I decided to accept. I asked to leave because the proposal was very good. It’s the end of a cycle.”

Paulo André was part of the Corinthians side that won the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2012. Last season, the Campinas-native made 28 appearances, scoring two goals.
