The player’s representative has confirmed that he will be at an English club next season.
António Araújo, the agent of Porto’s holding midfielder Fernando, has guaranteed that his client will be plying his trade in the Premier League next season.
“God willing, Fernando will play in the Premier League next season. God willing. Manchester City are the favourites to sign him but there will be others trying to sign him. They are a big club,” said Araújo.
Despite these reports, Manchester City said in recent days that they have a new target as Fernando chose to extend his contract with Porto until 2017. Their new target is thought to be PSG’s Matuidi.
According to the Daily Express, Chelsea and Everton are likely to join Manchester City in the race to sign the Brazilian.
