Roberto Carlos has spoken candidly about how his former Real Madrid teammate Clarence Seedorf was always destined to make it as a coach at the highest level, because of the way he conducted himself on the pitch.

“On the field he was always a leader: he wanted to teach everything to everyone,” the former Brazil defender told La Gazzetta dello Sport, “Kaka has told me that Clarence understands players well, but I already knew that.”

40 year-old Carlos, one of the most revered faces in Brazilian football, also spoke of his admiration for former international teammate Ronaldo, whom he believes is up their with the greatest to have played the game: “If we’re speaking of the very best anywhere, (Zinedine) Zidane and Ronaldo.”

“One time at Madrid I was out at a restaurant when a woman approached: “Ronaldo, Ronaldo, will you give me an autograph?” and I said “OK, give me a sheet.”

“But when she understood I wasn’t, she went to the police to report me. I had to explain to the police that I’d been joking!”
