Jo scores only goal in Atletico winJo has been at Mineiro for two seasons now
Atletico Mineiro got the defence of their Copa Libertadores off to the best possible start after claiming a 1-0 win over Venezuelan outfit Zamora last night, courtesy of a solitary strike by Brazil striker Jo after 88 minutes.
The Belo Horizonte side showed patience to unlock a stubborn defence and it was veteranRonaldinho who provided the assist for what proved to be the winning goal. With group rivals Santa Fe also recording a win, against Nacional Asuncion, Mineiro's three away points eases the pressure as defending champions immediately.
Brazilian site lancenet.com described Zamora as being "extremely limited" and that Atletico managed to hold 60% of possession througout the contest.
And of course, Jo proved a point by scoring, in that Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has stated that Fred will be his main striker come the World Cup this summer.
