Sources close to Fluminense suggest that the striker may still be called-up to the Brazil squad.
After picking up a knock on Friday, Fred is expected to return to training with Fluminense on Tuesday, when the team will reconvene following this weekend’s emphatic 3-0 victory of rivals Flamengo.
According to sources, Fred’s injury was minor and is not a cause for concern. However, considering the player’s history of injuries it’s expected that Fluminense will take all the precautions necessary to avoid risking another injury.
On Monday, the Seleção’s doctor is expected to examine the striker to determine whether or not he can be called-up to the national squad by coach Luis Felipe Scolari for the friendly against South Africa on March 5.
