Flamengo are looking to strngthen their ranks by adding Argentinian central midfielder Hector Canteros from Velez Sarsfield although a deal remains some way off as the two clubs try to best decide how to finalise the transfer.
According to lancenet.com, the Rio de Janeiro giants want to sign 24 year-old Canteros on a loan deal for the rest of 2014 but Velex are adamant that they want to receive a fee for a permanent transfer, believed to be in the region of £3million.
Canteros, who has two caps for his country, needs to sign before the end of Monday in order to make the cut-off date for registration for the Copa Libertadores- a tournament Flamengo will enter by virtue of winning the Copa do Brasil last term.
Canteros told a local radio station: “Let’s see what happens. Everything is being negotiated with my representative. It is a chance to play in Brazil and would be a dream realised.”
