The agent of Brazilian Fernando has admitted his client could sign a new contract with current club Porto, despite being linked with a move in the summer when his initial contract expires.

Fernando’s brother, Joca Reges, had stated recently that his sibling would be moving in the summer and believes the 26-year-old wants to sign for a bigger club.

However, these admissions from Reges appear to have been rejected by Fernando’s agent Antonio Araujo who spoke to Brazilian newspaper Lance and added more confusion to his clients current situation.

Araujo said: “A few English clubs have contacted me.

“We’re in talks with the club (Porto) about an extension, and no option can be ruled out.

“The situation will be more clear within the next days.”

Most parties involved will certainly hope the situation becomes clearer because there is various confusion over Fernando’s present and future situation.

It had been expected that he would move to Premier League club Manchester City on transfer deadline day last Friday but that proved to be a false dawn.

And following those statements made by Fernando’s brother, huge confusion seems to be surrounding the Brazilian at the moment and he’ll hope his situation becomes clearer soon.
