The Socceroos will play South Africa in Sydney as a farewell match before this year’s World Cup.

Reports in South Africa state that Football Federation Australia and the South African Football Association have agreed to a friendly match on either May 25 or 26.

Despite hosting the most recent World Cup in 2010, the Bafana Bafana failed to qualify for the Brazilian edition, failing to get out of their qualification group after finishing second behind surprise packets Ethiopia.

South Africa and Australia last met in London in 2008 in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage.

The Socceroos’ next friendly match will be against Ecuador in London on March 6. The final match before the start of the tournament will be against Croatia on June 6.
