Pelé has rejected claims that a strike would be a good idea following disputes at Corinthians recently.

Corinthians suffered a high profile incident where fans invaded the training ground and lambasted the players recently.

And speaking at a sponsor’s event, the former national team legend commented on the issue and stated that it a strike shouldn’t happen.

Lance published Pelé’s quotes, he said: “It is a claim, but I think it is not the time for that. But the players have the right to claim.

“More safety is needed, of course. If there is political problem, corruption, players have nothing to do with it.

“I think that was the moment. Brazil, earn a lot from these important events and have tourism here, have money coming to events, and are spoiling us because a group is misrepresenting the thing.

“Football is what brings more promotion for our country. National team players have nothing to do with the corruption of politics.”

The 73-year-old obviously feels that the players don’t need to become embroiled in a politics battle.

However, the going ons at Corinthians recently have seen serious questioned asked and it is no surprise that the group Common Sense will meet with the Union of Professional Footballers in São Paulo to discuss the situation in the coming weeks.
