Vasco da Gama are close to announcing the signing of Douglas from league rivals Corinthians, according to reports on lancenet.com.

The Rio de Janeiro based side have been looking to strengthen their ranks and add some experience to their squad after the retirement of veteran Juninho and appear to have found their man.

The palyre is allegedly in talks with the Carioca club and would probably move on loan until the end of the season, rather than make a permanent switch to Sao Paulo.

Douglas, 31, has had a solitary cap for Brazil back in 2010, and can count Gremio and Sao Caetano among his previous clubs. He helped win the Copa Libertadores and World Club Cup with Corinthians in 2012.
