Chelsea interested in signing Porto’s Fernando
José Mourinho will look to strengthen his Chelsea squad in the summer with the addition of two Porto players and one of them is Brazilian.
Fernando and French defender Eliaquim Mangala were both linked with a move to Manchester City in the January transfer window that shut on Friday.
The Premier League club weren’t interested in spending such an expensive outlay in the winter transfer window however and decided against the move.
Although they are due to go back in for the pair this July, Chelsea may beat them to the chase.
Portuguese daily newspaper Abola believe they have inside information, which suggests the Blues, will sign the duo.
Mourinho however told the official Chelsea website that he is only looking to bring one or two new players into the team.
The Portuguese manager said: “I see this summer as a very quiet summer for me and the club.
“Finish this season, work a couple of weeks to prepare the details of pre-season, one, maximum two signings and one or two leave because they want to play more.
“I see a very quiet and calm summer.”
In classic Mourinho fashion, it would be no surprise if the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ went against his word.
However, the one or two signings he talks about could be the Porto duo, we’ll have to wait until the summer and see.
