Neymar has released a message on his Instagram account, which reveals his admiration for his father, who has been criticised lately over his transfer from Santos to Barcelona.
He asked for his father to return back to Spain and attached a picture of the pair of them together.
Neymar said via his Instagramt: “I have stayed quiet until now but not anymore because there is much being said about my transfer.
“I called my dad saying I would speak out and he told me to be quiet and worry only about my recovery, he said leave this matter with him. But he will understand. I asked for help from the people I work with to write this.
“I am sorry for disobeying you for the first time father but I will speak. I wanted to thank you for the way you conducted my career, with the companies that developed my work and the way you took care of our family.
“I have played for our favourite team (Santos FC) and now the team of my dreams (FC Barcelona) and I owe you. I know a lot of people are talking a lot of nonsense about us, doubting our character. I also discovered that we have a lot of fake friends.
“Father, when Thiago Silva said he would die for me on the pitch, I thought the same about him. But for you Father? I wouldn’t only die, I would also give the life of my son for you.
“So I ask you to come back to Spain. I’m homesick. A few more days and I’ll be playing and I need you here. It’s time to realise you did nothing wrong. My father wasn’t wrong. Love you.”
