Santos made it consecutive 5-1 wins in the Paulista state championships with victory over Botafogo SP, to follow on from an identical scoreline against Corinthians in the last round of fixtures.

A second straight annihilation of the opposition was even done without star signing Leandro Damiao, a factor that will surely send warning signals around Brazil ahead of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Goals from Geuvanio, Cicero, Emerson and a brace from Gabriel ensured that Santos’ points total after five games reached 13 and that their already healthy goal difference was furthered to +10.

By contrast, opponents Botafogo SP saw their differential slump to -1 after the heavy reverse.
