Zico departs as head coach of Al GharafaZico won 71 caps for Brazil
Brazil legend Zico has left his post as head coach of Qatari team Al Gharafa after less than six months in charge, following a less than inspiring run of results.
Having arrived in the Middle East in August of last year, the Flamengo legend was expected to lead his charges to domestic and continental success but leaves after 20 games at th helm.
Zico steered Al Gharafa to only five wins in his time in Qatar and said to veja.com: "Unfortunately the results did not come and that's football. I was very well received by everybody here, the club has always acted correctly and I will move on."
With Gharafa in eighth place in the national championships, club owner Jassim Al Mansouri had the following to say about Zico: "Despite the great effort of the Brazilian coach, the results have not appeared in many games. We hope Zico succeeds in his next job."
